Sigma Kappa's Eta chapter has several philanthropic events and service opportunities throughout the academic year. Each semester, Sigma Kappa, hosts an UltraViolet event to raise money for the Sigma Kappa Foundation. Our latest UltraViolet event was our Spaghetti Dinner on February 24th where Eta Chapter raised over $1200. Dates for these event can be found on the Sigma Kappa - Illinois Wesleyan University Facebook page.
Moreover, Sigma Kappa hosts an annual bags tournament to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association in our fall semester.
Each week we have various sisters visit an Alzheimer's care center in town called Sugarcreek Alzheimer's Special Care Center to give back locally to one of our national philanthropies. Many members of the Eta chapter also are involved in local philanthropic organizations such as Best Buddies, Dance Marathon/Children's Miracle Network, Colleges Against Cancer/American Cancer Society, and Special Olympics. More information on all of these involvements can be found on Sigma Kappa's Facebook page with links to informational websites and donation sites.
This upcoming fall we look forward to participating in the national Sigma Kappa Week of Giving, where we participate in a different service initiative each day of the week leading up to our Founders Day on November 9th.
Any questions regarding Sigma Kappa's philanthropy can be directed towards our Vice President of Philanthropic Service.
